The home at 2 Casuarina Concourse in the exclusive gated community of Gables Estates has finally closed for $8,642,700. The home was designed by mid-century architect Alfred Browning Parker known for his unique, modern style.  The property offered 85,431 square feet of land with 580 square feet of water frontage and was selling for land value.  The home was not oriented to take advantage of the water views because it was designed to showcase high-end artwork which would be ruined by direct sunlight.  A few months after coming on the market, the City of Coral Gables designated the house historic.  This designation immediately lowered the property value because any new owner could not tear down the house or significantly alter it and would have to adhere to strict regulations and codes.  After several years on the market, the home sold for $8,642,700.  Congratulations to the listing agent Helen Nicastri of Coldwell Banker.

The last Alfred Browning Parker home to sell in Coral Gables was located at 915 Bayamo Avenue, it closed for over asking price at $1,013,650.  This mid-century modern style home was built in 1954 and offered 3 bedrooms, 2 baths with 2,266 square feet of living space on a 16,071 square foot lot.
